According to Unione Italiana Vini (UIV), Italy sealed its position as the world’s top exporter in 2013 for the second year in a row! Italy exported a staggering 1.2 billion liter of bottled wine; and was only exceeded by Spain with regards to bulk wine. These are positive figures despite the challenging 2012 harvest.

Export measured in terms of Value/Euros increased a spectacular 9% in 2013 to 3.528.134.000 euro. Italy was only exceeded by France which in turn only saw an increase of 2.3%. The general growth of producer prices can be accredited to the scarcity of raw materials but furthermore also a new focus on more profitable price segments according to UIV.
